The Democratic Alliance Mpumalanga Premier Candidate, Jane Sithole and Team One South Africa Spokesperson on Access to Jobs, Geordin Hill-Lewis visited the communities of Grootvlei and Greylingstad in Dipaleseng local municipality to deliver the DA’s message on fair access to real, long-term jobs this week.
The public meeting was attended by scores of locals largely composed of DA suppoters and non-partisan people who came to listen in mainly on the DA’s jobs and future plans for the people of Dipaleseng and also the country.
Nearly half of Dipaleseng’s workforce is unemployed, making this municipality one of the poorest in Mpumalanga.
Residents are locked out of job opportunities due to what Jane Sithole refered to as Dipaleseng Municipality’s lack of development and initiative to improve poor infrastructure and the locals’ lives including the ANC’s rampant corruption.
The Democratic Alliance Mpumalanga Premier Candidate, Jane Sithole and Team One South Africa Spokesperson on Access to Jobs, Geordin Hill-Lewis also conducted an oversight inspection of the area where an FET college was supposed to be built in Dipaleseng.
Like many projects in Dipaleseng, the FET college is yet to see the light of day.
Locals largely depend on neighbouring municipalities’s institutions of higher learning to acquire skills and further their education.
This has seen the locals missing out on many opportunities to improve their lives and the conditions in which they live in. There are no concrete reasons as to why the FET college has not been built and open its doors to the public to this date.
At the public meeting, Jane Sithole said that the DA is the only party that is serious about building a modern, successful economy that opens access to real, long-term jobs.
She also went on to say that, the DA is in the process of bringing change across all communties across the country that builds a united South Africa for All.
The Democratic Alliance Mpumalanga Premier Candidate, Jane Sithole and Team One South Africa Spokesperson on Access to Jobs, Geordin Hill-Lewis met most of the people who had gathered for the event at Balfour Magistrate’s Court.
A breakfast meeting with the Balfour Business Community was held and soon after the public engagement with the Greyligstad community was undertaken.
