Our shared heritage, global repatriations and a brand new payment system

By Ian Chirongoma

This week Zororo-Phumulani employees celebrated Heritage Day in style as they marked the annual Heritage Month in South Africa.

Clad in colourful dresses and shirts, the Zororo-Phumulani team showcased their diversity and cultural differences – in proof that the company is more than just funeral cover and cross-border repatriations.
Some painted their faces with the distinct marks of their tribal origins.

One could easily tell a Xhosa from a Zulu by their traditional attire.

That said, the Shona and Ndebele ladies borrowed from other cultures, avoiding their “dhuku neZambia” for reasons unknown.

International Repatriations
This week we also announced plans to broaden our reach to international markets – targeting all foreign nationals in the diaspora.

“We are pleased to announce that foreign nationals living in the diaspora can now be covered irrespective of their geographical location. In the past, Zimbabweans in Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho were left out because our repatriation plans were meant for foreign nationals living in South Africa” said CEO Edwin Anderson.

Repatriation will be strictly by air from wherever the body will be around the world. All payments for people who are outside of South Africa will be able to pay for their policies using PayAt, an online platform which supports international payments using Mastercard, funded by the client’s bank.

The cover amount for clients living outside of South Africa is R30 000 and the monthly premiums are expected to be between R279 and R500.

The benefits will include a dome casket, R3000 for groceries, two air tickets for two family members to accompany the body, documentation assistance and R30 000 cash option should the client decide to not to use our services.

Repatriation will be strictly by air from wherever the body will be around the world.

Our existing clients residing in South Africa, as well as new clients from abroad, will be able to utilize the plan.
