Week two of late spring October golf was a colorful affair as the Brawlers Golf Club came in numbers to face the challenge of Houghton Golf course – in yellow and black attire.
The greens were welcoming as Wire Speed Systems marketing created a friendly environment on every hole, complete with blue banners and refreshments.
Jonathan Muvindi said Wire Speed Systems is an ICT company which provides next generation ICT solutions. Cybersecurity, NAC, darktrace, linkshadow, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments. The company has offices in Sunninghill Johannesburg, and in Nairobi, Kenya.
It was another memorable week for in-form Osborne Nyabeze who made the headlines with a hole-in-one act at Houghton, as he topped all scores with a massive 41 points, leaving a 5point clear gap between himself – and second place Allistair Magumise.
Fidel, Raphael and Oliver were all tied on 35points, with Fidel taking 3rd place on a count out.
The longest day went to Hope Chasi who received a bucketful of balls from the sponsor as reward for having played the most golf on the day.
A number of match plays were lined up, with the Zimbango brothers individually going up against the recovering Donovan Chimhandamba.
Emphasis on Brawlers Golf Club networking
Despite playing as a family unit, a winner still had to be found, and Farai Zimbango lost to brother Fidel. President Tau Nkomo lost to Magumise.
PC destroyed upmarket Escobar MC Simukai Mandizvidza famously known as DJ Abra Simz in the music industry, who has lost 2 of his 3 match plays, while PC also narrowly defeated Martin Ncube 2&1.
In remarks at the 19th, Captain Fidel Zimbango commended the Brawlers Golf Club for a great turn out, and encouraged them to continue the good team spirit in the Friday Brawls.
He emphasised golf networking among all participants, and the focus on the fight against gender-based violence were among the topics that he spoke about, as well as our revived news-media partnership with Zimbabwe Digital News which will focus on golf sport, and current affairs for Friday match-days.
The Brawlers have dedicated November 1 to raising donations for the Cyclone Idai victims.
We have partnered up with a charity organisation, and the aim is to raise stationery for schools that suffered losses in the disaster in Zimbabwe.
This coming Friday, October 18th the Brawlers will play at the Ruimsig Golf Club. The attire for the day will be pink in support of the continuous efforts in raising awareness towards breast cancer.
Another upcoming event is on November 9 when the Brawlers will play in Botswana at GC Gaborone.
This is same day that we are joining the welcome party for the incoming Zimbabwean Ambassador to Botswana, Ambassador Batiraishe Mukonoweshuro, who by the way is also a Brawler.
Upcoming events: The first annual golf tour of 2020 will be in Sun City with the Brawlers playing at Lost City on Friday the 17th of April, and Gary Player, the following day.
